“It is with great sorrow that we have heard of the passing of a good friend and staunch member of the British Kendo Association, Ken Povey.
Ken started his Kendo career at the Fujiken Dojo in Wandsworth in the early part of the 1970‘s. He took over the club from John Howell in the 1979, moved up the rank of 5th Dan, was a member of the British team and eventually became its captain. Later he also became the team manager, again following John Howell.
His unique style was known as “Ken’s wicked Kote”. He was a forthright in his actions and a very strong character, extremely well liked, not only in the UK, but also in Europe. Although, unfortunately, not practicing for some years, he will be missed by all his friends and the BKA community. Our sympathies go out his wife and family at this sorrowful time.”
