The BKX program will through each year receive Japanese students for Kanoya and Shigakukan Universities to stay about a month in the UK helping to teach at kendo clubs, and experience kendo in the UK and be immersed in our cultures.

This forms part of the student’s university module they need to take in their 3rd years. Normally this will be done within Japan, but some students elect to do this in the UK, and BKX Program facilitates this.

Therefore, we need to know of families that are happy to host Japanese students, take them to their clubs and generally look after them whilst they are here.

Families are not expected to pay for everything and there is a weekly fee payable by the students, so host families are not expected to provide food and accommodation for free. Please contact me and more can be explained.

Anyone interested in doing this in any of the 4 home nations please contact the DIA: internationalaffairs@britishkendoassociation.com

BKX is also open to UK kendo players wanting to go to Japan. Please have a look on the website, read the criteria and get in touch, or make an application.
