It is with great sadness that we heard that Chris Buxton sensei passed away yesterday morning.
Though most of us were aware of his battle against pancreatic cancer it has come as an awful shock to realise how quickly the illness had developed.
After his initial interests in Karate and Kendo, Chris concentrated his energy on Iaido and Jodo. His gritty determination and hard work gained him Nanadan Kyoshi in both disciplines.
From the very beginnings of Eishinkan Dojo in North London, Chris was the backbone of the club where his special ability to reach beginners in a gentle, humorous, but effective manner was really appreciated by everyone who studied under him.
Chris’s scrupulous attention to detail and his absolute honesty and integrity made the Eishinkan Taikai the great highlight of the BKA year for many of us.
Our deepest condolences go out to his partner Margaret, and to his children Sam and Sophy.
Chris will be deeply missed, I’m sure, by everyone who knew him.
