Would you like to serve your dojo and local community by becoming a kendo coach? Have you already been helping out with the training in your dojo but now wish to get licensed officially?
A Level 1 coach assists a dojo leader. A Level 2 coach may independently run a dojo. Frank Stajano (Level 3) will run a BKA Kendo coaching course in Cambridge for Levels 1 and 2 on Sunday 14 December 2025.
You must be proposed and seconded by existing coaches in order to obtain the course materials.
You must then study those materials (over 20 documents!), practice coaching under observation and write some essays, by the PORTFOLIO SUBMISSION DEADLINE of 30 September 2025, in order to be admitted to the course.
You may apply now via the online booking system. Please do so ASAP in order to get access to the study materials.

KENDO GODO-GEIKO:
Bonus: the Cambridge dojo, Tsurugi Bashi Kendo Kai, is hosting a godo-geiko the previous day, Saturday 13 December 2025, following the success of similar events in October 2024, January 2025 and April 2025. Three solid hours of ji-geiko, over 40 people, from kyusha to 7th dan. Everyone who attended loved it. Please come along, regardless of whether you do the coaching course. But if you are coming to the coaching course from far away, consider coming one day in advance to enjoy the godo-geiko as well.
The event is free if you register by 31 October; otherwise you will be charged £5 at the door.
