IMPORTANT NOTICE

ALL OVERSEAS GRADING APPLICATIONS FOR THE BKA MUST BE SENT TO THE DIRECTOR OF INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS AND MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY!
SEE BELOW FOR INFORMATION

Members wishing to apply for grading events held outside of the UK are required to fill in the form below to request confirmation of eligibility in advance of applying to grade.

On completion of this form, the Director of International Affairs can register the candidate with the EKF and issue a Certificate of Eligibility which should be used to support your grading application if required. There is no charge for this.

Please return this fully completed digital form to the Director of International Affairs no later than one calendar month before the event’s grading entry deadline. Failure to do so may mean that the deadline is missed and the applicant will not be able to grade.

Please be aware that there is no consistent world wide procedure with grading application requirements. Some events will require the applicant to apply individually with a letter of authorisation. Other, typically larger, events require applications from a member country to be collated and entered by the home organisation.

When in doubt, please email the Director of International Affairs and/or Membership Secretary. Any information the applicant is able to supply to ensure the application follows the required procedure will help.

For most overseas gradings, the BKA do not get notified of the results. Please notify the membership secretary and the relevant Bu Grading Officer of your result. For passes, provide a copy of the menjo as proof to allow the grading to be entered into the national grading register by the Bu Grading Officer.

The BKA reserves the right to not recognise grades awarded at events where the member has not applied for and received prior authorisation. However, this authorisation will not be unreasonably withheld.
